What is “Mottainai”?

The "Mottainai culture" has been passed down in Japan since ancient times. It is a uniquely beautiful spirit of not wasting resources, things, and time. This value, which involves appreciating and cherishing limited resources, contributes to building a sustainable life throughout society. In recent years, "MOTTAINAI" has become a universal language, gaining recognition worldwide.

Now, to embody the "Mottainai culture" specifically, what actions should one strive for?

Here are three examples:

Effective use of resources.:

This involves eating food without leaving leftovers and utilizing leftover ingredients creatively. When purchasing new items, careful consideration is given to whether they are truly necessary.

Maintenance and Repairs:

Even when items break or age, the emphasis is on repairing and maintaining them to prolong their use as much as possible. Before discarding, efforts are made to find ways to reuse or repurpose the item.

Gifts and Souvenirs:

When selecting gifts or souvenirs, the focus is on choosing items that will genuinely be appreciated and won't go to waste in the recipient's life.

"SAKEGLOW," a product made from sake lees, epitomizes the concept of "effective use of resources." Sake lees are originally a byproduct of sake production. However, in Japan, there is a tradition of not discarding them but instead using them in cooking and repurposing them for skincare, exemplifying the practice of reusing resources thoughtfully and sustainably.

Born from this spirit is "SAKEGLOW."

The products of "SAKEGLOW," deeply connected to the "Mottainai culture," not only enrich our skin but also contribute to a gentler impact on the Earth. With each use, a sense of fulfillment grows. Accumulating the daily practice of enriching one's spirit leads to a life that becomes even more beautiful.

The wasteful use of resources stands as a significant cause of damaging our beautiful Earth. By incorporating the "Mottainai culture" into our daily lives with "SAKEGLOW," let us protect our planet while bringing radiance to our skin.
